Late in 2011 I made a committment to blog more often.

It has not really worked out. Mostly due to my own laziness and not putting the blog first.

But I have learned alot. I purchased Charlie Gilkey's Planners to help me stay on track with my blogging plans for each month. He really helps you think it through....that was easy. Writing the posts became the thorn.

I also decided to dedicate a time each day to read something new about blogging. Blogging Your Way to the Front Row was one that was heraled as the 'fashion bloggers bible', and although I would not call it that, it is one book that I am glad to have in my library.

The chapter on Relationships was especially helpful to me. Reading the Relationships chapter has helped me to go for it in terms of chatting up other bloggers, and seeking out more exposure for myself-and other entreprenuers who are focused on providing wise women beautiful clothing and accessories.

Myy win is your win...I accidently ordered two copies and would love to gift one of my lovely readers.

Enter below, good luck. (Sorry folks who came by and tried to enter earlier-I messed up my beginning and end dates for the giveaway. It's fixed and thanks for letting me know!)

Jia Collection are bound to become classics. The cuts of these dresses can fit many different shapes.

The benefit of many of Jia's dresses is that they are reversible. Invest in one dress. Wear it two, or four different ways. Hand-washable, or dry clean.

Coco & Creme posted an excellent article regarding models and the real world vs. what women really want.
Music and miscellania...

I'm a sucker for a cellist, but Kevin Olusola takes it to another level when he marries beatboxing with a classical rift. It's fabulous. I had to close my eyes the third time I listened in as his composition took me to another decade of my life-when I thought I was going to play the violin as an adult.

How do I go about picking my outfit for the day?

I moved from Chicago, where I could take a cab, walk or public transportation to work to an area not far from Tampa, Florida. I did not need a car in Chicago. Floridians drive EVERYWHERE. Public transportation is pretty much unavailable.

Having to drive everywhere has changed the way I dressed. I have to plan more. Formerly, I could get dressed, do full-makeup and make it work with time to spare. Florida changed that. I need at least 45 minutes to make the drive to work, and dressing for the weather has added about an hour to my very basic shower and dress routine. Lip gloss and moisturizer has replaced the full face of makeup.

Also, training runs have added to my morning routine. I have to make sure I have my running outfits ready to go so I can hit the path after work at least twice a week.

For the reasons stated above, I have switched from winging it every morning to planning a week’s worth of looks every Sunday. It is eases my mind that rain or shine, I have all my jewelry, shoes, clothes and purses put together in one spot.

Do you try stuff on and then take pics to see how it looks, like Cher in Clueless?

No. I’m old school. Mentally I try on looks. I am going through a phase where items I formerly could not squeeze into are coming into rotation again. So I try those items on just to see where they may fit back into my wardrobe or if I need to give it away.

And are you consistent in your planning or lack thereof, or is your planning limited to special events?

My weekly planning is pretty consistent. Planning outfits ahead of time makes my mornings run smoothly.

evening wear from styleosophys closet

Here’s a tip to help become "event ready":

Buy event clothing and accessories when you see them, not when you need them and you will always be "event ready"

How many times have you seen the most beautiful cocktail dress (likely on sale and it fit) and didn’t take it home because you didn’t have a place to wear it to yet? Or found the perfect event ready clutch? If it’s in your budget, invest in it and when an event “pops up” you will already have the perfect items waiting for you.

Do you have a way of keeping track of which outfits you wore when?

For dresses, they usually rotate to the back of the closet. Pants, skirts and shirts reside with each other and the best way to keep track of what has been worn and what hasn’t is whether or not is in the laundry or at the cleaners. If it’s not in the closet it’s not in the rotation. Otherwise, I keep a mental fashionictionary.

How do you come with new clothing combinations?

A combination of meditation (which involves standing in front of the closet and looking at what went well with what) and trial and error. Sometimes I will see an element of an outfit I like and apply it to my own wardrobe, such as the color blocking trend.

How about you dear readers, how do you work out your outfit choices every day?

irongirl clearwater 2012

Hi loyal readers!!!
Can you tell us some of your difficulties in becoming a jewelry designer and entrepreneur?

I think the biggest difficulty in starting any new business is not taking the business side of things seriously. You can have an amazing idea or product that has the potential to make you millions, but if you don't understand your industry your ideal will die on paper. As for jewelry design, I feel there is always the added pressures of trying to be 'on trend' vs 'unique'.

How do you intend women to feel when they wear Chronicle Stones designs?

My goal is to help women better express themselves with my designs, not dictate how they should feel when wearing a piece. I believe your look can tell your story. I want my pieces to be conversations starters. (or objects of jealous gossip).

How would you define the style your line exemplifies?

I'm working towards a more defined look for the coming year. If I had to classify my style I would say 'urban boho'-a look for working city women who want to express their more brazen side.

What is on the horizon in 2012 for Chronicle Stones?

Right now I'm working on promoting Fashion Quest, which is Orlando's First Dash for Fashion. Think of a pub crawl but for clothes and jewelry.

And I'll be partnering with some local artists to make some very unique and more artistic rings and I'm also working on a proposal to UOI, the parent company to stores like Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters.

Where can we purchase your fabulous work?

I try to update my website as much as possible so I can sell directly from there. I also sell in several boutiques across the country. I'm desperately trying to unify everything so customers can see the whole line, whether it is available on the website or not.

What is your styleosophy (style + philosophy)?

I believe fashion is a language, so you should say something interesting!

"If I wanted the government in my womb, i'd fuck a senator"

What is crazy is that we are fighting for not only our rights as women, but also fighting over our right to choose. Can we get a choice? This is not 1949. What do these crazy men want us to do? Quit our jobs, stay at home, and go live in a cave? Really? Are they going to revoke our drivers licenses next?

CCBCustomDress.com

Cassaundra and I collaborated on an emerging styleosopher post earlier this year (go check her site out. She has a great giveaway going on right now!). Little did I know she is also an awesome blogger. Her post about truth, acceptance, and lycra, hit home as I was trying to determine whether I really wanted to measure myself to get the best fit for one of her fabulous custom-made dresses.

Even I, when faced with the reality of body image sometimes become my own worst enemy. I judged myself, and thought "Cassaundra will really known how fat I am if I measure myself."

I am training for the Chicago Marathon, love to death my two grand-daughters and all my nieces and nephews, work a 9-5 and am working diligently to make Styleosophy a name you love to talk about. I'm lazy, but no slouch. At the same time I am experiencing how my body is changing while going through peri-menopause and the forties.

No matter what, the media consistently makes it the BUSINESS to show a mature woman everything isn't as tight as it used to be.

I have moments of self-doubt, and wonder how good I actually look, and then I come across these words:

I have parts that I love and parts that I recruit the assistance of industrial strength Lycra to rearrange its location. I am opposed to any sort of negative self-talk and I believe in an objective non-judgmental assessment of my body.

Cassaundra's quoted words are a brilliant reminder that adopting the position of "opposition" to negative self-talk is where the work comes in (and at this point in my life Lycra is absolutely one of my best friends).

Thank you for giving me that gentle reminder that I am fine just the way I am.

Music and miscellania...

My son, Christopher sent me this great snowboarding video. Amazing. (Thanks son!)

Two of my favorite bloggers were chosen to tweet and comment live from the OSCARS!!! Luvvie and Afrobella (huge shout-out to my hometown Chicago) are bringing us a unique look from backstage and the Red Carpet and I cannot wait to "see" the Oscars through their eyes. This opportunity could not have happened to lovelier ladies. Look for the "snark" on the carpet from Luvvie, and plenty of comments from Bella on all things beautiful. Dean Richards interviewed them on WGNTV.
